Know Your Rights!!!

When Confronted by a Prince George’s County Animal Control Officer
accompanied by a Police Officer or Sheriff who has a warrant.

— Think Carefully —

You are not required to say ANYTHING.

Anything that you DO say, can and will be used against you.

There is no such thing as casual conversation.

— What to do? —

STEP OUTSIDE!!!
Ask for the Warrant and read it carefully.

The Warrant will specify what areas have been granted access and what they are looking for.
Do not interfere with the execution of the warrant.

Ask for all of the Officers’ Names and Badge Numbers.
WRITE THEM DOWN.

Immediately after the encounter, write down the date and time of the incident
and exactly what happened as accurately as possible.

— Behave Yourself —

Do not be impolite.
Do not touch the ACO or Police Officer/Sheriff.
Do not argue with the ACO or Police Officer/Sheriff.
Do not threaten the ACO or Police Officer/Sheriff with a complaint.
