Your organization will receive all of the features shown here unless the service is provided by an organization other than RescueGroups (like registering a domain name). However, even if the service is provided externally, we will still help you in any way possible!

Your web site is actually already created for you! We use a "shared-code" methodology, which means that the features we create for one organization actually benefit all of our partner organizations. All you have to do is customize the look and feel of your site. We can have your web site up-and-running in a matter of minutes and it's totally painless.

You can choose one of our layouts, or our volunteers are available to design a web site for you! We can keep your current website's look and feel, or you can tell us what colors and layout you would like, and we can create something unique for your organization. We don't charge to do this for you!

You can cancel your RescueGroups account at any time. There are no commitments, and you are free to move your web site elsewhere if you need to.

Other services, including Petfinder, restrict what links and advertisements you can have and where they have to be on the web page. RescueGroups.org does not restrict the content you can have on your web site.

When your web site is created, it will already have some basic web pages and information about your organization. You can add as many additional web pages as you wish (using your web browser). The new web pages will automatically appear on the site menu and the sitemap.

Animals are added to your RescueGroups website using a web browser (much like Petfinder and Pets911). You can fill out more than 30 fields including several that are private for your organization only. Pictures are uploaded with your web browser as well, and are automatically resized (to save you even more time).

You are free to use a "hostname" from RescueGroups.org. For example, your organization could be "smartcats.rescuegroups.org." Alternatively, you can register your own domain name or change your existing domain name to work with RescueGroups. We'll help you get setup no matter what you decide.

You can add as many forms/applications to your web site as you wish. The forms are added by creating questions and placing the questions on different pages of a form. Your forms can have multiple pages to separate sections of the form. Different pages can be completed at different times, so your visitor doesn't have to complete the entire form in one sitting. Forms can be anything you want including an adoption or foster application, volunteer application, or a survey.

When you add or change an animal on your web site or upload a new picture, RescueGroups will automatically update Petfinder and Pets911 (1-800-Save-a-Pet coming soon). This feature maximizes your organization's exposure while reducing your workload.

You can grant access for your volunteers to update their own animals, including uploading pictures. This way, updates happen faster, more often and with more relavant information!

If you use our online forms feature, you can receive an email when one of your visitors completes a form. For adoption forms, your volunteers could work together to respond to the application, especially if duties are typically handled by different people.

For example, the foster could review the application, and request another volunteer to complete the vet check or references check. The adoption coordinator could approve the adoption and the foster could complete a home visit and placement very quickly.

Through the entire process the application is kept on your website, so you don't have to email it around!
